College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

The Center for Independent and Distance Learning (CIDL) is an authorized CLEP testing facility. CLEP tests are developed by professional educators from various colleges and universities in the U.S. They are standardized nationally and widely accepted. Credit is awarded for courses if you achieve the required score. The passing score and credit awarded varies from school to school, so check with the school of your choice for specific requirements.

The University of Oklahoma does not award credit for all of the CLEP exams that are provided by the CIDL Testing Center. See the CLEP exam list for the exams accepted by OU.

CLEP exams for Principles of Management (MGT 2013) and Principles of Marketing (MKT 2013) will not substitute for or fulfill the Management 3013 or Marketing 3013 major requirements in the Price College of Business at OU.

Students who have been admitted to OU and take the College Composition Modular at a CLEP testing center other than the CIDL testing center must have the essay portion of the exam (as well as the score report for the objective section) sent to the University of Oklahoma (Office of Admissions). The English Department at OU will read and score the essay portion of the exam and determine a final score for the entire examination. Prospective students are advised that the numerical score on the national score report from CLEP does not reflect the final score for this examination and should not be used to determine whether credit will be awarded for this examination.
